How it all turned out

Best recipe of the night, Saveur's Sweet Potato Casserole. See previous post for recipe.
Other winners, turkey, gravy (homemade), stuffing and mash potatoes. The cranberry sauce would have made it to the list had I served it. Forget to take it out of the fridge. Tom is enjoying the cranberry sauce on his turkey sandwiches.
Loser of the night, Apple, Leek and Squash Gratin. File this one under healthy gratin to be served with pork.
I love cooking but for some reason Thanksgiving dinner leaves me wondering how it all can take so long to cook and be eaten so fast.
Holly's favorite was the mashed potatoes and gravy and Emma liked the turkey.

Here are a few photos.

Preperation for Thanksgiving Meal

So far the menu looks like this:

Good Eat's Roast Turkey by Alton Brown
Mashed Potatoes - something I will put together
Bourbon Gravy - William Sonoma
Cornbread Stuffing - Trader Joe's... we like it simple
Still need to get a brine bag and figure out dessert. Any suggestions?

Holiday Cheer in the Air

Yesterday I started making my gifts for the Holiday. The kids were great and played all day with each other. It was great for me to be able to get focused and accomplish so much. Also got reacquainted with Photo Elements. How do you like the new banner? Continuing the project this morning before going to see Twilight today at 4:00. Last night went to a Harvey's Comedy Club and dinner at Isabel. What a great weekend!

Bad News and Good News

Bad News: My cell phone died.

Good News: Tom and I have new iPhones!

Tom: "The last time I used a MAC was in college."
Tom excited 2 hours later: "I have an iTunes account and they have my credit card!"

Halloween Wrap Up

The start of the month saw the unpacking of Halloween decorations:

Something that Emma was totally into!

We also made a Haunted Gingerbread House:

Kim got dressed up for her Witches' Night Out:

She also created Holly and Emma's Halloween outfits:

First outing was the Boo Bash at Kim's gym:

Lots of candy.

Then We had Emma's school Halloween bash:

More candy (and cup cakes).

Holly had her Halloween Parade at her school:

With her friend (and witch) Sophia, and about 300 other kids!

Finally Halloween night actually arrived and we went trick or treating at our friend's neighbourhood. (Thanks Jen and Kevin. We had a wonderful time!):

The weather was perfect. It was nearly warm and very dry.

Nana and Kim had fun too!

Afterwards, everyone counted their takings:

Even more candy!
