Kabluey - The Movie

Go see Kabluey! It a great movie that is written and directed by Scott Predergast the nephew to my super star Real Estate agent. I went to see it on Sunday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised!
It's in limited release around the country. If it's not playing in your city you can add it to your Netflix, to be released in 3 weeks.
Enjoy

Addie Recovery

So Addie had surgery last night. They found some black plastic piece in her stomach along with other things including part of the livestrong bracelet. Tom picked her up from Urgent Care and took her to our Vet's office where they can look after her for the day. She should be home this afternoon. Now we know that it was something in her stomach, so she will be fine, just needs to recover from surgery.

Addie Update

It seemed Addie may be okay yesterday, but by evening time she got very still and lethargic. She even threw up the small portion of food we gave her.
This morning she went into the basement bathroom, I think because it was cool, and just stayed there. We kept checking on her and I started to notice a bit of a shake. We called the vet and ended up taking her to urgent care. Urgent care vet spoke with our regular vet and decided to keep her and do surgery this evening. They are still a bit puzzled by what may be the cause. We hope that they will find the answer in surgery.
This photo was taken last weekend at Gearhart. She loved the beach.
Rest soundly little doggie.

Here are the recipes I entered into the Oregon Bounty Cocktail competition.
Who knows maybe one of these will be the unofficial official Oregon State drink. :-) ENJOY!

Mix Spiced Cocoa Rim ingredients.
Lightly dampen (not wet) rim of glasses and dip rim in spiced cocoa mix.
Place all ingredients in a chilled cocktail shaker with lots of ice. Shake vigorously for at least 10 seconds.

Alternative: instead of rimming glass, add a pinch of the spiced cocoa mix on top of martini

Poor Addie

I woke up this morning thinking that Addie was off to the vet for surgery. To my surprise Tom had returned home with her. She has been sick since Tuesday morning.

After a phone call to my cousin Jennifer (vet tech) we took Addie to the vet and had an xray and blood work. NOT to our surprise there is a small object stuck in her intestine. We were instructed to restrict her water, so that she doesn't throw up and try to give her small portions of wet dog food to assist the object through her system. She kept throwing up so Tom took her in this morning to have it removed. They ( Tom and the Vet) did another xray and it seemed that the object was moving through her system. So for now we are just going to try to get it to come out on it's own. POOR DOG!

Getting Ready for Oregon Bounty Cocktail Competition

Tonight Tom and I had our first tasting of my ideas for the Oregon Bounty Cocktail Contest. This afternoon I visited Clear Creek Distillery . They didn't have much of what I wanted to use but a few thing perked my interest. Their Pear Brandy and Cherry Liqueur (I was surprised I preferred that to the Cassis Liqueur).
First I made a martini with the Pear Brandy ( top secret recipe for now) Good!
Then I made a Espresso Hazelnut martini. GREAT!
It was so fun. Tom is a great one to taste and give feedback. We adjusted both recipes at least 3x's. Don't worry I made very small batches. :-) At one point I even stopped everything and dashed up to Stroehecker's for half and half, which made the drink.
We just looked at the rules and judging criteria for the contest. I think I am going to have a difficult time choosing the region for each of my drinks. They say I can enter one recipe per email. I think I'm going to need one more email address. I want to enter 3 different cocktails.
Can't wait to share with everyone.

2 Things to Watch

Rent the movie Water. Be prepared for subtitles. No excuse not to watch!

Next, check out Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman in Long Way Down. First they rode their motorcycle around the world in Long Way Around. Now in the sequel they are riding from Scotland to Cape Town, Africa. Tom and I are loving the Brit Whit!

Also, had a great trip to Laguna Beach, CA last week and then to Gearheart, OR this weekend. Too HOT in Portland. Look for posts of our adventures soon.
